"Dunkers" is a name for members of the Church of the Brethren, a denomination of Christians founded in Germany in 1708 and later reorganized in the United States. They are known for their practice of trine immersion (full immersion baptism). They also practice a love feast accompanying the Lord's Supper and oppose taking oaths and military service. Dunkers practiced modesty in their dress and general lifestyle. A typical Dunker church service supported their beliefs in simplicity. Hymns were sung with no musical accompaniment from organ, piano or other instruments.
